From Soccer Teammates to Life Partners: Megan and Chris’s Love Story

Some love stories start with fireworks, others with quiet moments that bloom into something extraordinary. Megan and Chris' journey began with a soccer ball, a shared smile, and a chance encounter on the field.

It was early September 2017 when they joined a charity soccer tournament their mutual friend Sean organized. That day, Megan was battling a stomach bug, leaving her quiet and reserved. Yet, Chris’s kindness and radiant smile left an impression. Despite her shyness, Megan mustered up the courage to ask Sean about Chris a couple of weeks later, only to find out he was in a relationship.

In the summer of 2018, their paths crossed again at pick-up soccer games. This time, Sean shared that Chris was single, but Megan dismissed any possibility of romance. Meanwhile, Chris embarked on a solo backpacking adventure to Thailand, to celebrate his graduation. While he was away, his Co-ed soccer team invited Megan to fill in. A light-hearted message she sent Chris about his absence turned into a conversation—and an unexpected promise to take her out for ice cream.

What seemed like a casual outing turned out to be much more. On the day of their “not a date,” Chris, despite wearing a knee brace for a torn ACL, walked 20 minutes with her to Chocolats Favoris. Their time together was filled with laughter and connection. Back at her parents’ house, he even joined her in baking brownies for a coworker. As he left, he leaned in for a kiss, leaving Megan texting her friends in excitement: “OMG IT WAS A DATE!”

From that day on, Megan and Chris became inseparable.

Building a Life and a Team

Megan and Chris grew up with different family dynamics. Chris was raised by his parents Mary, and Rick, and stepmother Sue, alongside his sister Taylor. Megan grew up with her parents Kathy and Patrick, her older brother Kyle, and younger sister Katie.

Professionally, Chris is a CPA and works as a controller at S&R Flooring Concepts, while Megan is a senior graphic designer at Cartell Media Development.

Their love for sports continues to be a cornerstone of their relationship. From soccer to hiking and volleyball, staying active is a shared passion—despite their “wrecked knees,” as they affectionately joke.

Their home is also filled with love from their furry family members. Bruce, their four-year-old mixed-breed dog, keeps them on their toes. They also cherish the memory of Hank, their beloved 15-year-old dog, who passed away in July after bravely surviving cancer twice. Hank will hold a special place in their hearts on their wedding day.

A Love Built on Teamwork

If there’s one word to describe Megan and Chris as a couple, it’s “team.” They approach life as teammates, lifting each other, solving challenges together, and ensuring their relationship is rooted in love and understanding. Their story reminds us that the best relationships are built on partnership, trust, and a little bit of soccer magic.
